A clogged kitchen sink drain may push you to call for a plumber and pay a hefty amount on repairs. You can ditch all by first trying to unclog the drain in these simple ways.
1. Boiling Water: The kitchen sink drain may clog for reasons like sticky food caught in the pipe. Try removing all the clogged water from the sink with a mug and pour boiling water in it and let it sit. If it doesn’t open the clogged drain pipe, repeat the process several times. You may also add a half cup of salt to the drainpipe before pouring hot water.
2. Vinegar and Baking Soda: Once again, removed the clogged water with a mug. Pour a cup of baking soda in the pipe. Let it sit for a while and then add white vinegar. You will see bubbles popping up. Put stopper when the bubble subsides and let the solution sit for at least 15 minutes.
4. Drain Snake: Professional plumbers use a drain snake to remove a clog from the drainpipe. It is often used for difficult to clean clogs. If the above three steps don’t help, it is time to call for professional tools. But use them wisely as they are designed to be used by plumbers.
5. Coat Hanger: Coat hanger is a substitute for drain snake for people who want to try their hands in unclogging the kitchen sink drain before calling in the professionals. You can use a coat hanger by simply straightening it. The wire of the coat hanger won’t be as long as a drain snake, but for minor clogs, you can surely try the method.
A clogged kitchen drain can lead to an unorganized and messy kitchen. You can keep the kitchen neat and tidy my regularly pouring hot water, baking soda, and vinegar to the drain pipe.
